Notes for Luther Frasier
Luther is listed in the 1855 Saratoga County census in two separate places. First as residing with his parents William & Patience with his brothers and sisters at the age of 22. He was a lumberman by occupation. William is said to have been born in either Ontario county or the town of Ontario, New York in 1805. At the time of the census, William is a farmer and it says he is blind. Great-great grandpa Luther is listed a second time as residing with his wife, Margaret's family. Her last name was Mallery and she was 16 at the time. From the ages of the Mallery head of household I can only speculate that he was maybe a brother but definitely not her father. Luther served with the 30th New York infantry in the Civil War. He was either a 2 or three year enlistee and was a Private through the duration. The 30th saw a considerable amount of action.19
