Obituary Notes for John Charles "Jack" George
John Charles George (better known as "Jack" George) died at his home on East Barwitz Street at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, of cerebral arteriosclerosis, after a lingering illness. His age was 66 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Born in Sheboygan Falls, July 12, 1857, he came to this vicinity while still a young man about forty-two years ago, where he has since resided, being employed most of the time in lumbering. He has been a member of the local Odd Fellows lodge for more than forty years.

He was twice married, his first wife, Mary Smith of Rice Lake, dying about twenty-seven years ago. About twenty-four years ago he was married again to Mrs. Minnie Shadbolt of Green Bay, who still survives.

Those who survive are his wife, five children by his first wife: Mrs. Chas. Praytor of Hattiesburg, Miss., Mrs. Henry Chartier of Duluth, Minn., E. F. George of Los Angeles, Calif., W. C. George of Baker City, Ore., and Charles H. George of this city. One daughter, Mrs. Conley of Duluth, died about seven years ago. There are also two step-daughter, Mrs. Harry Smith and Mrs. Lulu Van Zande, both of Green Bay. All were present at the funeral, excepting the two sons in the west.

Funeral services were held at the I.O.O.F. hall at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, with the Odd Fellows in charge, and the remains were shipped to Green Bay to be buried beside his parents.2
